Why does my stomach have a bloated look, and tight feeling after eating protein?

Eating most things hurt my stomach (I’m recovering from an eating disorder, it’s to be expected) but for some reason, I have a tight feeling and bloated look in my stomach after eating meat, and usually after eating eggs, or even a protein shake as well. My stomach hurts, especially when I stand, and feels like I overate after consuming protein. I don’t know why, anyone have answers?

One thing I learned about protein in the past couple of years is regarding digestion of it.  My son runs competitively and we had to take a hard look at his diet because of that.  Protein, I've learned, often digests really slowly.  I would check how much protein you are consuming as it may be more than you need.  And depending on what it is, it sits in your stomach longer than other food and moves through your digestive track more slowly than other food.  I never realized that some food can take a couple of days to digest!  Usually protein or processed food (hot dogs, for example.  My son tossed his cookies after a race and it had hot dogs in it that he'd eaten a full two days prior).

I would guess it has to do with this.  Look for lean protein.  Eggs can be pretty good for you but maybe egg whites would digest better.  And again, pay attention to quantity.

good luck
