Zyphoid growth

I was seeing my doctor this morning and he asked me about this protrusion at my sternum. He called it a Zyphoid. I said it had been there a while. I had a vertical sleeve gasrectomy 6 months ago and had not noticed it before. It was not there then. He said it required surgery to remove it. And has scheduled surgery for late Sept. Has anyone else had this done?

I've been having stomach issues for 3 or 4 years now. A few months ago I noticed a small lump at the base of my sternum that I had never noticed before. I told my doctor about it, and he said it was my Zyphoid and told me it is harmless. I have concerns that it may be something else because of my persistent stomach issues for 3 years now, and the fact I've never noticed it before.
