I had my gallbladder out about 6 years ago,  I was warned of the upset stomach with food.  Yes,  I experience the rush sometimes before I can get half of a meal down.  This is normal for some people.  I have also taken immodium every since vs the prescription they give me (smooth muscle tissue relaxers and even some of the drugs for high cholesteral have been used)  I too have grown aggravated as this seems to control every thing i do in life.  I have also heard that there is a new surgery that can relieve this problem.  I dont know but I wonder if the immodium has long term side affects.  I take it every single day sometimes up to 8 or 10 times a day.

I'm 56 and had my gallbladder out 4 weeks ago.  I noticed that all of a sudden I can't eat ice cream without waking up the next morning in pain.  I get sick to my stomach after I eat but no vomiting.  So I decided to cut back on eating too much of anything.  I noticed that I get full halfway through my meal and I stop eating.  I don't force myself to finish anything.  I really think that if we can eat in moderation we will be ok.  My doctor told me that I could eat anything I want now, well he was wrong.  Once they remove your gallbladder they're gone.  Don't go back to him because he doesn't wanna know anything once he's done with you.  Go to someone else and explain to them whats wrong.  Ask around for a doctor that listens, really listens.  I really believe that the food you eat has a lot to do with the symptoms your experiencing.  I've heard from people that had their gallbladder out and all of a sudden their lactose intolerant.  That could very well be.  So forget the chili dogs or anything else thats loaded up with tons of sauces, gravies and spices.  Have your hot dog but keep it simple.  Try it.  Watch the foods you eat and see if you feel better.

This is horribly embarassing....but here goes.
I had my gall bladder removed in january of 08, so about 8 months ago. For 2 weeks I felt pretty good, i mean, minus recovery, which wasa  breeze. my dr., unlike a lot of your drs it sounds like warned me that for about 4-8 weeks i MIGHT have diarrhea about 15 minutes after i ate..boy did HE underestimate.
FIrst of all- I had diarrhea RIGHT AWAY and still have it right now. I started taking imodium every day, but then it woudl go TOO far the otherw ay and i'd be constipated and in pain when i would go #2. so i don'[t know what to do. I am thinking about trying to take an imodium 2 days and then take 1-2 days off. has anyone tried this? I was not warned about my post surgery diet AT ALL. and a few times i have seen blood in my stool, and i am very freaked out by all this. Horribly embarassing, but recently i was on a backroad and i lost control of my bowels and had an accident in our brand new car. i am a TEACHER and i am only 24 years old, id idn't think i'd have these problems till i was old and grey:( i can't just LEAVE MY STUDENTS when i have to go to teh bathroom all the time, and i feel like other teachers think i'm being lazy. the wrost part is that i absolutely LOVE my job and would be heartbroken if this caused me to lose it. i am scared to talk to anyone about it, b/c they had to deal with me during surgery and how do i explain to tehm that maybe the surgery didn't fix EVERYTHING? i feel like i'm crazee, and i'm so glad to have this site make me feel like i'm not a long.
2nd - i am STILL HAVING ATTACKS. before the surgery i had them once a week and they lasted 1-2 hours. At first i got one every 2 weeks or so, but now in the last 5 days i have had 6 attacks, and last night i had an attack that lasted for 5-6 HOURS!!! i am miserable and am afraid to go to the dr. and have him think i'm crazee. plus, being a teacher, i feel so guilty taking days off. I would just go to urgent care or the ER, but i know they'll just pump me up with drugs, send me on my way, and i'l get a HUGE bill later
and 3- has anyone on here had any reason to think that their birth control was at all to blame. that is the ONLY pill i take besides a pillf or acid reflux ( which all of a sudden just doesn't work anymore)

PLEASE HELP i am a young newlywed with a job shde loves who JUST WANTS TO LIVE:( instead i feel like i'm getting old before my time. HELP

After GB removal some people may have too much bile reaching their colon, causing diarrhea.  I have heard of bile inhibitors may help relief your symptoms.

I had my gall bladder out June 7th and I'm having the very same problems. Dr. gave me something for the nausea which comes and goes. Also was told to stay on low fat diet. But the low fat salad, fresh vegies and fruit seem to be what upsets my digestion. Same senerio of about 2 hrs after eating terrible waves of pain and sickness. I'm 59 and have other health issuses ( arthritis, & hypocalcemia due to para- thyroid  & thyroid removal ) so sometimes its hard to tell what is what. If you type in gallbladder on the search you will find that alot of people have the same symptoms after removal as they did before surgery. Also some are still complaining of issues after a year. I hope yours and mine will improve with time. I know where you are coming from/ very discouraging. Good luck!
