My friend had a iliostomy during the time her new colon healed.  The poop came through the bag.  The bag was temporary while they fixed the problem.  Once, her bowels started working again on their own she did have the bag removed.

I do not know much about the ilios part except for the iliostomy.

Good luck!

were you diagnosed with ileus? if so , what kind? is it a mechanical obstruction like stricture or pseudo obstruction from atonic or weal muscles in the gut/  are you taking laxatives?

I am in a scary place myself , and though I am knowledgeable it has worked against me in  a way.. If I owned a hospital of had access I could giagnose myself.. What I really need is DR HOUSE .. but he does not exist in the real world.. We get sent from one specialist to another waiting for weeks or a month to get this test or that, to try this or that while no real answer or solid treatment .. sorry for rant.. check out my website

Sweetieeee:
I have a very close friend who also had ulcerative colitis.  Unfortunately, she did not get better and so they had to remove her colon and do what they call a pull through.  She went through a very difficult couple years, but now she is doing fine and that was over 20 years ago.  She changed her eating habits and works out.  She does quite well.  What does your doctor say?

Have you contacted an accupunturist or a nutritionist to see if there are some foods that you should be eating to help?

I pray that you start to get better or feel better soon!!!
