colon surgery

My bet  friend had surgery 3 months ago for an gastric obtruction. Five inches of her intestine were removed. she has been fine until tuesday when her pain came back from 1 to 10 she says  was a ten. what could be the reason  for the pain  to come back

She should see her gastro doctor ASAP.  If it's another obstruction and not taken care of...that part of the intestine can die and gangrene will set in.  If she's having pain as severe as 10.....I think a trip to the ER is best.

Hello,

I have similar issues.  I had colon surgery to fix my internal rectal prolapse and was doing fine until a few weeks ago where my pain has come back in much more severe form.

I went to my internist and am seeing a surgeon - could be adhesions/scar tissue from the surgery or a reoccurence of the original problem that was "fixed" by the surgery.

I would tell her to go back to her doctor (GI or internist).
