My gastroenterologist will not schedule a colonoscopy because i have sleep apnea.  He needs a clearence from my pulmonary doctor.  Is this the protocol?

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I don't know if this is the "protocol" but it does seem like a good idea to consult with your pulmonary doctor before you undergo any sedation.
