constipated and rectal bleeding

hi, a day ago I was constipated and after sitting on the toilet for a while I strained until blood came out of my anus , the blood was bright red and filled up the toilet water . I got lightheaded and felt I was going to faint . I quickly wiped and a lot of bright red blood was on the toilet paper on first couple wipes, after several wipes it was clean. I haven't bled after that , but I can still feel a sharp pain inside my anus. Is this something serious ? Also can this affect my ability to hold in my poop/pee? I ask this because my anus also feels weak

I may also add that I'm 23 years old and had constipation on and off for about a month or two

Sounds like  hemorrhoids try a stool softener like Colace and make sure you are drinking enough water to keep your stool softer and avoid straining. Also, try to increase your fiber intake with food ie high fiber vegetables and some whole grain  cereals or whole wheat bread. Maybe something like fibercon tonalso help bulk up and soften your stool.

Also you could see a gastroenterologist to see if the tear needs to be surgically repaired.  There is a procedure called an anal Fissurectomy which may help but likely your doctor would  suggest trying the treatments I’ve described above first.

I got my anus checked and the doctor didn't notice anything external . Said more than likely is internal. I have been on fiber supplements which really help. But my anus feels uncomfortable and there is a mild-moderate pain at times.
Did your doctor suggest a colonoscopy? Did they do a digital examination of your lower colon?

If you have torn your anus you may need a fissurectomy to repair the tissue. Your doctor should be able to find an anal fissure with a  digital (finger) examination.

Have you tried preparation H?

The Colace should also help by softening the stool. As well as being properly hydrated.

If you can keep your stools soft it could allow your tissues to heal and be able to avoid surgery
I haven't tried either, the doctor only prescribed pain medication, natural fiber supplements and metronidazole. Seems i may need a second opinion. also is there any possibility I may have caused damage to my penis by straining too hard? I'm unable to get a full erection and my penis feels very tingly and weak. It is now causing me to stress ...is this even a possibility ?
Looked up more about Metronidazole:

“Flagyl (metronidazole) is an antibacterial drug that is classified as a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It is used to kill any bacteria in the body that are causing infection. In some cases, Flagyl may be used to treat infections or other complications of IBD. It might be given alternately or at the same time as ciprofloxacin, another type of antibiotic.”

Maybe your doctor thinks you may have  irritable bowel disease (IBD)

Metronidazole oral tablets uses:

“This antibiotic treats only certain bacterial and parasitic infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections.

Metronidazole may also be used with other medications to treat certain stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by a bacteria (H. pylori).”

Preperation H is an over the counter ointment available in the grocery or drug store. It may help soothe your painful irritated areas.

So not sure how that is related to your anal bleeding but I am not a doctor I do not work in the medical field.

If you consider the rise in blood pressure during an erection I tend to doubt excessive straining during a bowel movement would be an issue.

If you are straining I suggest you try drinking the recommended daily fluid intake of eight each eight ounce glasses of liquids daily if you are not. Colace stool softener is also available over the counter.

See if that helps always best to go with the lowest level of intervention and avoid surgery although if trying to soften your stools with being properly hydrated, taking fiber supplements  and stool softener and you are no longer straining but still have symptoms of bleeding you may need hemoroid or anal fissure  surgery.

But first take the fiber supplements, try Colace, and get properly hydrated and see if that does the trick.

I went to another specialist today who was able to examine my lower colon. What an experience! I hope I never have to go through that again. He did confirm it was just a hemorrhoid . He prescribed daflon along with fiber supplements for 10 days. He says it's not anything serious nor will require surgery.

I'm just wondering why I havethe  symptoms of bloatedness, lack of appetite , dizziness , and a tingling in my scrotum and penis. I'm still having a hard time getting an erection but maybe this will change in a day or two.
Could be many things or just being stressed about the whole bleeding anus thing. If it continues see your general doctor.

Also from what I understand as a male you will have that type of exam regularly as a part of an annual physical. Also the turn your head and cough check.

Similarly women get mammograms which are not fun  unless you like getting your breasts crushed between two cold metal plates and a pelvic exam. Being an adult is fun!
Thanks for the heads up, sounds like a lot  of fun indeed! I'm feeling a lot better as of now and I believe you're right, it could just be stress causing these other symptoms as I do suffer from anxiety. Although not serious, this was a pretty hard lesson for me I do need to take better care of my health and diet.
