I think you should ask your doctors to investigate the diverticular bleeding (?) thoroughly.  In my case suddenly without warning I suffered torrential diverticular bleeding which can be life threatening.  I was rushed to hospital>>>intensive care>>> about 16 pints of blood transfused over several days etc etc.  Then after a few months I underwent a total colectomy.

I am not saying that this will happen to you - but rectal bleeding is never normal and must always be investigated until a definite cause (and hence treatment) are established.

You might want to try getting some Slippery Elm powder. It's very soothing to the intestines, and it healed my mom's diverticulitis. She added it to her tea. I think eating celery also helped her.
You would have to look in a health food store most likely, to find Slippery Elm.
Good luck to you.
