fatty liver

Hi, I have fatty liver. My liver enzymes have been elevated.  Since I am 55 and haven't had a colonoscopy yet ( they think that i have a death wish}. Doctor won't treat me if i don't get one. Why would it be necessary for me to have a colonoscopy if i have a fatty liver.  Would just diet and excercise fix the problem?  Doctor said that fat in the diet is not the problem but carbs is.  But the procedures for getting ready for the colonoscopy is carbs.  I have already had a liver biopsy 2 years ago but they didn't even suggest diet or exrercise.  Afraid to ask any more questions, need to find out what to do, but wait and see is the only thing that has been done except for my worry and  loss of money out of my pocketbook and the ever tube up my as!!!!!!

I know of no correlation between the two, maybe they are using this for leverage to get you to have your colonoscopy, which you NEED to do regardless. Not right for them to do this, but have it done for your peace of mind as well.  It's a big nothing and takes so little time.  You need to decrease the amount of fat in your diet which helps your liver, and this should have been told to you 2 years ago.  Diet and exercise is needed to help reverse the amount of fat in the liver. Fat in the diet is a problem and they know that carbs are the biggest culprit and by you cutting down on carbs, you reduce the fat and will lose weight, which will help the liver.  I think I would get a second opinion, it's not ethical how they are approaching this, and you can have all your previous test results transferred to the new doctor.  It took 4 doctors to properly diagnose my son, so if you're not happy with your treatment, find another doctor.  Take care and get your colonoscopy!!!
