gallbladder polyp

My husband keep getting the stomach pain and yesterday we did a gallstone scan.. they told that he has a
polyp in the gallbladder and they did not tell me the size. they suggested us to go to the gastroentrologist.
I am worried about this. what could be the reason and what can happen for this? pls reply me

For gallbladder polyps greater than 1 cm, cholecystectomy is generally recommended. For gallbladder polyps less than 1 cm, follow-up and management have been conflicting but recently attempts have been made to reach consensus/joint guidelines. Polyps can develop in any organ. These days the current suggestion is if a polyp is present, no matter what the size of that polyp, that the gallbladder be removed.
