Hi, I am a 39 yr old female. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis 4 months ago...I believe I have been living with it for some time but just thought is was the stress of a big family and a busy schedule. I have had ALL the test and the last one being the gastric emptying study (after 4 hours I still had 80% in my stomach). I am on reglan (it's okay but does not take the symptoms away). I live daily with the pain and nausea. I cannot maintain a weight and continue to lose pounds (25 since this began and I did not have much too lose). So, this leads me to my questions: First, at what point does weight become an issue and do the doctors become alarmed? Secondly, I was recently in my son's peds office and he was very interested in my condition. I now have a raging sinus infection which has magnified my gastro condition (the oral antibiotics do not sit well and I vomit them right back up). The peds doc says that the gastroparesis is related to the sinuses and it can disrupt the PH levels in the body creating a "chicken soup" (if you will) in the sinus cavity, this change in the PH leaves the immune system compromised leaving the person open to infection (more often ear, nose and throat). I found this to be very intersting because the doctor could have put a picture of me right next to this description. I am always getting sinus infections and about a year ago I had severe ear infections. Has anyone ever came across anything like this? I would love to hear from you. Lastly, does Gastroparesis get any better or is this a condition I will be dealing with the rest of my adult life? Thanks so much...
