I have been researching fecal transplants for my son who is 12 and has sufferred from chronic diarrhea and abdominal pain. He recently had a colonoscopy/endoscopy in which the biopsies showed possibly crohns. There is a lot of sucess stories for the treatment of UC and CDiff, but what about Crohns? Anyone know? Please help!
HELP! I need to try the stool transplant, but I cannot find a doctor to perform it. I have been sick with it for over a year and a half. I have two small children and also Crohn's disease. I have tried and tried the same ole antibiotics, but they do not work. I had a doctor in Alabama that has performed the procedure a few times, but he refuses to see me because I work with other doctors besides him. I mean he can possibly heal me, but is jeasous that I use other doctors. What a jerk! Do you know another doctor in the Alabama area? or anywhere?
Hey guys,
My 6 year old son has been battling uc and recurring cdiff (9 relapses) for over a year now. He missed most of kindergarten and all of first grade. Nothing has worked for him and we are now in the prep phase for a fecal transplant. I'm cautiously optimistic given the hours of research I have done.
My wife's samples are being tested and will hopefully become the donor. We are hopeful to have the stars align and do the procedure within a week. We are doing it via colonocopy (insurance covered) and with follow up with home enemas for a week. This combines most protocols for cdiff and uc.
Our Children's Hospital GI is on board and is anxiously awaiting the results. That said, Children's Hospital won't allow the procedure...too much red tape with infectious disease. So instead they referred me to someone relatively close to us. As "difficult" patients respond to fecal transplants, infectious disease will have to take note.
Start searching and you will find a dozen doctors who are now providing fecal transplants in the US. I believe this is NOT yet mainstream.....but is definitely on its way. Also, there are a handlful of studies taking place for this and are in the recruitment phase if you want to participate and meet their criteria (my son did not qualify as he is a child).
Good luck, I'll try to follow up with some results. Troy
I need help does anyone know of a doctor in Ohio or near that does fecal transplants? I have been sick since April 1st 2011. I have been on Flagy..and Vanco... many probiotics....now one last ditch effort on a new med named Fidaxomicin or Dificid. Ill hopefully be starting this drug tomorrow. If this med fails then last resort is a fecal transplant. Has any one heard of this new med or used it.? It was just released by the FDA this year

Dr Schleinitz is starting to do HPI in Medford Oregon. His technique is to infuse 400 cc of emulsified donor stool by colonoscopy. He has done this procedure with great success. Now however the hospital (Rogue Valley Medical Center) has the all important protocol in place
When I had c.diff last year my GI doctor mentioned a fecal transplant procedure that is done in Phoenix, AZ. I don't know which hospital, but I can give you the name of my GI doctor and maybe they can tell you which hospital will do that procedure.

HELP! My husband needs a doctor that will perform a fecal transplant for recurrent c. diff. We live in Atlanta, Ga. but will travel in order to obtain this treatment. Thank you!
You are on the correct path. Stool transplants are the definitive therapy for recurrent bouts of c-diff with 90% to 95% cure. So find a gastroenterologist, or hospital in your area willing to do a stool transplant, bacteriotherapy using fecal flora, or colon recolonization. It works and is effective. Good luck
I don't think stool transplants are done in the U.S. Have you considered using probiotics such as VSL#3? The VSL technology actually developed from the idea of using stool transplants for use in ulcerative colitis. VSL#3 has been clinically proven to help in some U.C. cases. It would probably be a wonderful substitute in the case of C. diff.
