intestinal metaplasia

Hi,
my dad just found out that he has intestinal metaplasia and we want to have some information about it. What are the main causes for ths ? What kind of food he should not eat? Is there any treatment? like chemo? Is there any medication he can take? Is there any surgery?

The doctor told him to have an endoscopy every 6 months.

He probably should be following a GERD diet. You can find a representative example at www.gicare.com. Go to the diet tab and look for a GERD diet.

Barrett's esophagus, also called intestinal metaplasia in its earliest stage, can progress to low-grade dysplasia and then to high-grade dysplasia and then to cancer.
