pain on lower right side of stomach

Hi. My husband has had pain on his right lower side of stomach lately. The pain is there only when he's standing up but the pain is gone when he's in bed laying down. He's 65 years old and hypertensive. He takes Ziac, Pletal, Vastarel, Captopril as maintenance drugs. He also has hietal hernia and GERD and for this he takes Zantac at night. What could be the cause of the pain on his lower right side of stomach? He's wondering if his medications interactions may have something to do with that sudden pain.

I would appreciate if you could give some advise regarding his condition. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your advice. Yes, he hasn't had colonoscopy for about 10 years now. I think its long overdue but we will schedule it as soon as possible after he's finished with his Ultrasound of his abdomen and other laboratory test.
Thank you again, we appreciate your help.

God bless!

Drug interactions can cause many problems but not actual pain.  You can take his list of medication to your local pharmacy and they will check for any that may be interacting and causing him problems. If he is having any change in his bowels, I would have him see a gastroenterologist for evaluation.  If he hasn't had a colonoscopy in awhile, he needs to see a GI anyway and get one.  But I wouldn't let this go on, by acting now you may be preventing something from becoming serious. Take care and good luck.
