pain on right side

Last year, I went to the GI doctor for horrible stomach aches, and everything else that goes along with IBS. After the colonoscopy was performed, my doctor came to the conclusion that I simply have bad IBS. I started taking fiber pills, and saw an improvement until now, about 1 year later.
For the past 3 months, I have been having horrible pains on the right side of my abdomen. It is around where the leg meets the trunk of my body. The pains are so bad, and come out of no where, lasting from 10-30 seconds each time (happens about twice a week). It feels like a sharp sting, or stabbing. Originally I thought it was an ovarian cyst, but have been to the gyno, and had a sonogram where she was able to rule out any gynecological issues. So now I'm wondering if this could be some sort of GI issue. My gyno told me to see my GI doctor again, now that I am having more severe and new symptoms. What does this sound like to you? Crohn's disease? Just a new IBS symptom? I'd really appreciate any help. It's so frustrating and scary not knowing what is causing such dibilitating pain.

I have had severe right lower quadrant pain for almost a year now. I have had hypothyroidisn since I was 21. I have had chronic loose bowels since high school and now am in my 30's. The pain becomes so intense somtimes I don't even like to walk or sit or lay down. I had my appendix removed in 2005. I have been to my gyn doc and they do not believe the pain is related to any female issue. recentlly had a colonoscopy done and everything was normal even biopsies taken. My symptoms are somewhat consistant with crohn's, however, my doc thinks it is just IBS adn prescribed me Bentyl to take. I have a CT scheduled for Tuesday. If anyone knows what this pain may be I am intersted in finding out as well. Also wanted to know if you can have crohn's but have a negative test in a colonoscopy????

No, I have not. I figured if it were my appendix it would have ruptured by now. This has been happening since mid-September or so. Do you think I should still get it looked at?
