rectangular stool..

Does anybody know what may cause stool to come out looking more like rectangle rather than round?  This happens to me occasionally.. one part of the stool comes out round yet the other comes out looking like a rectangle..?

Any opinions are appreciated.

Thanks

Interesting.

Do you/does anyone happen to know if rectangular stool can be caused by growth anywhere else (small intestines, or perhaps even lymphoma)??

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The sedation that's given could tamp down evidence of spasms.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I had a colonoscopy in April and it was normal.  Would "spasms of the colon" be seem during a colonoscopy?

Changes in stool structure can be a function of spasms of the colon or possible changes to the walls/structural characteristics of the colon. You may want to schedule an appt. with your doc to have it checked out.
