what do i do when the pain starts?

I have GERD.  It was diagnosed from endoscopy and colonoscopy done at the same time.  My doc gave me some meds but they don't help.  The pain, when it starts, is unbearable.  It comes suddenly out of nowhere (after eating and after not eating) and doesn't stop for several hours no matter what I try.  I eat a heart healthy diet which should not be causing these gastric pains.  I do however take a lot of meds for other problems, including my heart.  Once the pains start, it's so horrible it is affecting my heart.  The meds aren't helping and this pain, I just can't live this way.  What can I do once the pain starts to stop it?

I'm been researching similar topics.  If your endoscope/imaging findings are disproportional for your pain level, you may want to look up intestinal ischemia or ask your doc about it.

Call your doctor and let him know the medication isn't working.  This happens with GERD, where one doesn't work....another does.  You can try Tums for now but call your doctor and let him know how much pain you're in.  Avoid spicy foods and don't eat too close to bedtime.  Call your doctor right away, there is no reason for you to have to suffer like this. Wishing you all the best and that you get some relief.
