I had my gallbladder removed almost 3 months ago.  Since then I have been suffering with chronic pain on the right side of my abdomen.  It feels like it is under my ribcage and radiates to my back.  The pain is stabbing at times, constant and becomes worse as the day goes on.  I have been admitted into the hospital for what they thought was a bowel obstruction, but when the GI doctors saw the CT results, they said it was not one.  I was discharged 8 days later with no diagnosis.  Since then I have been to 3 different docs and went through a boatload of tests. These included lupus, lymes disease, thyroid dysfunction, and a bone scan all of which came back negative.  I am so frustrated and my life has been put on hold until I get answers. I am a nurse which entails strenuous duties all of which my body cant handle.  After reading everyones posts I decided to call my family doc one more time to scheduale an ERCP. It cant hurt anymore than I am hurting.
Thanks everyone for the advice

Did either of you have nausea associated with your abdominal pain and did you experience heightened nausea or pain around the time of your period?

I had my gallbladder removed in May 2010 and have had this severe pain in my upper abdomen, persistent nausea, and dizziness.  Once a month near the time of my period, these symptoms get elevated to the point I am sick in bed for days.  Am working with a specialist who suspects it has something to do with SOD, so prescribed muscle relaxants to start.

Yes SOD is a real disease.  I spend a year and a half getting horrible attacks and then finally went to Mayo Clinic in MN and had an ERCP done and was diagnosed with SOD.  The surgeon did a sphincterotomy and it helped.  This happed to me after my first child and having my gallbladder removed b/c it was not functioning.  Now I have had my 2nd child and it is happening again... urgh!  The pain is so aweful.  I am going back to Mayo Clinic this next month.  What symptoms are you having?
