stop drinking & diarrhea

I am a 29 year old female, I have been a heavy drinker since I was 12. I decided to stop drinking a little over a week ago now. But now I have really bad diarrhea. Its been a bright yellow, bubbly kind. But today its not as bright & not "bubbles in it". But it is still sever like 20 plus times a day. So I am wondering if this is just due to alcohol withdraws, or if it could be something more serious. Without my knowledge I found out that I had been around a few people with swine flu, and now I'm pretty worried.

Anytime you stop something you're addicted to, the body reacts with "withdrawals," and that includes having diarhhea.  In addition, for so long your liver and kidneys have been working overtime to filter alcohol, that they are now free to rid you of all sorts of awful things that have been piling up in your system.  

To help you along with this, drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration and to help your kidneys flush toxins, take some nice easy walks in the neighborhood, eat whole grain fresh bread to help bulk up your waste, put Acidophilus milk from the grocery store onto your Cheerios along with a handful of fresh blueberries tol help restore balance to your digestive tract, drink a little bit of orange juice, and eat cage-free eggs three times a week which is one of the best whole foods you can give to yourself.  I am so proud of you, keep it up, the rewards of being sober are unimaginable.

Thank you for the response, yes they have blown the whole thing out of proportion, but better safe than sorry. And I have no symptoms of the flu, so I was pretty sure it wasnt that, but you never know.

I truly feel this is all part of you stopping the alcohol.  You have no other symptoms that would indicate swine flu.  Remember that H1N1 flu is much like the seasonal flu, and is only worse in people who have a compromised immune systems.  There is no treatment for H1N1 except Tamiflu which only shortens the duration of the illness by 1 day, so why even bother.  H1N1 can lead to upper resperatory problems, and this is when you need to seek help.  The media has blown this way out of proportion, many more people die from the seasonal flu.
