Colonic inertia is really just another name for constipation. It basically just means you have constipation due to a motility disorder as opposed to problems with your diet, rectum, etc. I would make sure that your colon truly isn't working, before getting a colectomy. I would highly recommend you get a colonic manometry before your surgery. How often do you have bowel movements?
Update. I have been very sick up chronic pain throughout my entire body. I still have these toxins coming out of my pours and everytime I show a doctor they looked puzzled and one implied I see a pysiatrist. Frustrating really! Anyway I went back to my GI doctor and they finally did other test and diagnosed me with colonic inertia. I have complained about constipations for years but no one seemed to think it was a big deal. They always suggested I eat more fiber and I always said it made things worse. My diet was always healthy I am 5'5 and 125 lbs and I was a runner prior to this debilitating chronic illness that has just put my entire life on hold. My GI doc said my colon is paralyzed and I need a colectomy which means have my entire colon removed. I am scheduled to have a colectomy in two weeks. When I asked my doctor about the toxins seeping from my body I continue to get the same response. When I suggested it was stool seeping both doctors said it was impossible. why years later do I still have toxins seeping out of my body? What could it possibly be? Doesn't it make sense that it is coming from the intestines? How could my skin just be continuously seeping with a source? Is it possible that toxins are leaking through my colon?
I would recommed that next time before you take a bath, you take a baby wipe and wipe down all parts of your body: your skin, your vaginal area, your rectum, etc. See if you see anything on the baby wipe. Also, do you use any soaps or lotions before/during your bath?
No problems with my skin. I shower daily but lately I have been taking lots of baths to help with detox. Sometimes I bathe every other day. Or sometimes 3 times in a row. If i am feeling really bad I take a bath and when I feel worse the water seems even more dirtyr. The levels of dirt/toxic material that my body releases seem to be abundant when I am feeling aweful.
A stool sample will not tell you anything about having/not having IBS. Does your skin look or feel any different to you? How often fo you bathe?
I included a picture of the toxins in my profile just click it and you will see it is not risidual stool. I know I refer to it as toxins but I have no idea what it is. Maybe they are skin cells but why so much so often? It appear like i threw a pound of mud in the bath. I see a brownish orangish film on the water (like oil) prior to it accumulatng on the rim of the tub. It happens day after day sometime more and sometimes less. I had a stool sample taken with no problems and no IBS. I have tried the candida diet and now i am on a juicing/vegitarian diet. As i said it is not rectal leakage because I eliminated that possibilty by once preventing that part from entering the water. Prior to taking todays bath I performed 2 back to back enemas prior to bathing to eliminate that as a possibility also. I have been very particular about my diet the last 8 months trying to get better with no relief. I feel very sick all the time.
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! I have no idea what you mean by "toxins" released in the water. The toxins in your body are microscopic so the stuff you are seeing in the water is most likely dead skin cells (due to the naturally sluffing off of old skin cells), some stool/rectal discharge (probably caused by a loose rectal sphincter or stool around the outside of the rectum left behind after having a bowel movement), or vaginal discharge (normal). Have you had a stool sample taken? Have you been diagnosed with IBS? Have you tried any medications for this? Have you tried eliminating any different foods from your diet?
