I receive a weekly or biweekly newsletter on nutrition that may help you.
First, go to www.about.com and in the wide box below, type low-carb foods.
Second go to http://caloriecount.about.com. Here, you can ask questions of the Nutritionist.
Good luck.

You want to eat whole grains, fruits, vegetables, avoid trans fat and bad carbs like white bread, opt for whole wheat instead. IF your doctor has cleared you for exercising, start with walking, you can do this anywhere and at your own pace. Also, it's best to eat very small healthy meals every 3-4 hours instead of 3 bigger ones. This keeps you full and your metabolism at it's peak! Good luck to you!
