what is wrong with me?

I have a burning in my upper right side of my abdomen right at the edge of the middle part of my ribcage. That is where it starts.... It then travels down to my lower abdomen with less intensity. With remaining intensity in the upper area. I have black stool when I have a flare up. It happens randomly. A glass of water can trigger it. Then it will disappear for awhile. No matter what I eat/drink. When it comes back, it comes back with more intensity. The only relief I have found,  is to put my hand on the spot and apply slight warmth and pressure. I have had an x-ray and a sonagram (sp) looking for gallstones and they were not able to find anything. I have been told that it is acid reflux since I was 21. But, it is getting worse and we don't seem to know what it is. Do you have any ideas?
thank you,
Natalie

Have any other symptoms? Fatigue maybe? constipation? Without doing a HIDA scan I wouldn't rule our gallstones, but if the pain moves down to your lower abdomen I doubt it is that.

thank you for your response. However, I have seen the doctor and they don't seem to be able to figure it out. I have been tested for an ulcer and the gallbladder. The others I will keep in mind and ask her about them.
thank you again for the suggestions.

Hi, have you been checked to see if you have an ulcer? You should definitely tell your doctor you have black stool, this can mean there is blood in it and should definitely be checked. There are many things that can trigger right sided abdominal pain, your stomach, liver, pancreas, appendix, gallbladder, kidney, and part of your large intestine goes up that far. Please ask your doctor, it may be something simple and you can get some relief.
