without colon

I am 64 year old female. I had 2 cancerous colon polyps and 3 months ago I underwent total colectomy. After surgery there was no need for additional chemo or cytostatics therapy.
My problem is that I have to visit toilet 10 to 15 times per day and I also have liquid motions, causing obstruction of my everyday activities. I am on a proper diet (including lots of liquid). I would like to know if there is some medicine or a way to reduce the necessity of frequent toilet visits.

Thank you in advance.

Most of the doctor not recommend me to do it, except one surgery doctor in HK, but I have a very severe constipation - half year a few times only.

Thank you so much for your information and I will look for the website accordingly.

best regards

I'm not sure that You understood my post properly. My indications for remove colon surgery were 2 cancerous colon polyps on 2 distant places in colon. Who suggest You to go to total colectomy? I'm not sure that constipations are indications for such surgical intervention.

I live in Belgrade, Serbia(Europe). My surgery took place in Belgrade on the Institute of oncology and radiology. I think that total colectomy intervention is very safe here - mortality is at very low level. I also found this article about mortality after colon surgery and I think that You should see it.

Thanks you so much for your information, I have severe constipation and I am thinking removing the whole colon, can you tell me where you remove your colon ? And how much, is it safety ?   Do you feel very suffer after remove the colon, does the diahera cause you so many trouble.

I am a chinese woman and live in Calgary, I plan to go back to Hong Kong to do surgery, but the mortality rate of colon surgery is 36% is very high.

Thanks !

I have to go to the toilet about 10-15 times a day , but i have diarrhea 3-4 times per week(3-5 movements in 2-3 hours mostly in the afternoon). In that time I'm mostly at home, but if i have to go somewhere, i take 1 tablet of Loperamide after first daily liquid movement, and after about an hour i don't have to go to the toilet for couple of hours. I don't use diapers at all.

Both my sons and grandson had total colectomies, and had this same problem for a while.  The docs told them to take Imodium Anti-Diarrhea Medication (over the counter).  This will improve with time, and eventually you will learn what foods go thru faster than others.
