Young and Bald?

I have always had very thin, straight hair, my mother and sisters all had thick and wavy hair.  (I've been robbed!)  Why am I going bald in the last 6 years?  Many say stress, ok, so I took meds for stress and I still continue to lose hair. I have tried ovation shampoo for $100 and many others on the market but to no avail.  Any ideas why, or what can help to produce more hair growth at a faster speed?  I really need your help.

jemma, you seem to have a lot of confindence in me, lol!
Well, as a matter of fact yes, specially for males.
It seems that coconut oil has protective properties, slowing down the
conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (dht), which is one of the main causes of male pattern baldness and benign prostate hyperplasia.
It is part of my  health regimen, taking it orally and applied on my hair and scalp as a conditioner.

Its anti-inflammatory properties, specially when replacing harmful cooking oils (coconut oil does not suffer oxidatative damage when heated) would help slow down the onset of degenerative diseases, inflammatory processes and other serious health consequences.

Coconut oil also has amazing immune function boosting qualities, equalling or surpassing mothers' breast milk in immune factors from beneficial
fatty acids such as lauric, caprylic & capric acid.

Alopecia nervosa, is a probable consequence of your accident, which caused the acceleration of your hair loss. I read your profile!

I suffered this in my 20s, a result of PTSD, following a horrific car accident
and using an old home remedy - a type of lyme stone, used in powder form with water to spray vines, mixed in my palm with saliva to make a salve/paste and then applied on the affected areas- helped my hair re-grow.
You would need to see a dermatologist for this condition.

Daily meditation and self-hypnosis  took care of my PSTD.

Because of suspected elevated stress levels, I would suggest that you consider testing for Free T3, Free T4 AND Reverse T3 regarding thyroid.
Also worthy of consideration is an assessment/questionnaire
to screen for adrenal fatigue.
You are welcome to a copy of the one I have been using.
Just let me know.

Cheers.

Your profile says that you are female, aged 54.  Profile details are not always correct.

If you are a female, your hair loss may be due to low thyroid levels or other hormonal issues.

If you are a male, this will depend on the your genes and if your father and grandfather had hair early, then you will know that you have been unfortunate to take after them and not your mother.

Don't bother wasting your money on all these products, as you have found, they don't work.

Have a healthy and well balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and veg and drink plenty of fluids, especially water to avoid dehydration.

I did read today that coconut oil can help with hair loss.  I have no idea if this is true or not.  May be TheLightSeeker might know more about this.

Make an appointment to see your doctor to get your thyroid levels checked.

Look for underlying causes like low iron, low thyroid function, adrenal fatigue(related to unresolved biological stress*).

Have you ruled out nutritional and mineral  (tissue levels also)deficiencies?
Check your shampoo, hair dyes and other hair products for safety at the cosmetics database website- regardless of mfg claims!

*Stress of any type may affect the hair shafts, by constricting them, thus cutting off supply of vital nutrients.
Meds for stress do not really approach the causes, which are the real culprits, they treat only some symptoms.

Best wishes.
