Acute or chronic bronchitis?

Hello, I'm a 23 year-old woman and a light smoker (5-6 cigarettes a day). I've been having acute bronchitis once a year since I was 9yo, but for the last 4 years it's been happening very frequently, at least 3 times a year. Seems like everytime I get a cold it evolves to bronchitis. I'm confused that I might have developed chronic bronchitis, however my episodes resolve in no more than a week and I don't have cough, mucus or any other symptoms in between episodes. Is it possible to have acute bronchitis several times a year? Thank you so much for your help.

In my opinion you are having problems with frequent ACUTE bronchitis and this is related to your smoking.  If you don't quit the smoking, this can evolve into chronic bronchitis.

I am no expert but I think that if you have bronchitis more than 3 times in a year then it is considered chronic.  My son's gets upper respiratory infections that always turn into bronchitis. He has asthma. So I think that you can just safely say that you have chronic bronchitis instead of acute bronchitis
