You are having a reaction to something in the bandaid. My guess is the latex.
It is not necessary to see a physician except to document a work-related problem.
The problem with these reactions is that you cannot tell if the first reaction "sensitized" you and the next reaction will be the "one that sank the Titanic". A second exposure can be fatal. Ocasionally, if that helps. Not always.
You need an appointment with an allergist, as Tuckamore suggested, to determine exactly what you are sensitive to and then to avoid that material.
Hi Skv,
In my opinion you are obviously reacting to something. In the case of the band-aid you may be allergic to the adhesive. I am fine with latex but I have a real problem with some adhesives. Your reactions sounds almost exactly like mine, although I even blistered. My PCP prescribed a topical hydro-cortisone cream and it cleared up the adhesive reaction fairly quickly.
Regarding the mask reaction again there must be something in that mask which is causing you to react. This is just my personal opinion and I am not an expert but I would call your pharmacist and ask what you should take over the counter now to aid in the lessening of the reaction. Then a visit to an Urgent Care Center or even an ER if you think this is an emergency situation would be a cautious decision. If you have any trouble breathing or swallowing, if your face begins to swell or the palate swells any further call 911, do not wait or try to take yourself into ER.
I would think an anaphylactic would have occurred immediately but our systems are all different. Only you can tell if your symptoms are worsening and if so they are nothing to be taken lightly..
In the longer term it is important that you discover what is in that mask that you seem to have a problem with. You will want to avoid these material in the future. Often a second exposure can be more severe than the initial one. Did you use any different chemicals? Seeing an allergist and taking a duplicate mask with you may be a good idea in the near future.
Please let us know how you are doing.
Take Care,
~Tuck
