Did I re-tear my hernia repair?

Hello all.  I'm a 39 year old male, 6'0", about 160 lbs.  About 6 days ago I had hernia repair surgery on the left side, with a mesh.  All was going pretty well, minimal pain, no trouble walking around or anything.  Yesterday I fear that I may have overdone it a bit, and since then I have this uncomfortable sensation in the hernia area that recurs about every 30 seconds, like clockwork.  It seems like I'm actually feeling the peristaltic action of the intestines from the outside.  I can't detect any movement of the skin when it happens, it just feels weird and uncomfortable.  I'm not 100% sure, but it doesn't look like it's protruding any more than it was before.  I think the procedure involved suturing together the lower layer of muscle, then the mesh on top of that, then another layer of muscle.  Is it possible that the first layer of muscle separated and the intestines are now rubbing directly on the mesh?

You do need to take it easy after this type of surgery.  They normally have guidelines for restarting activity or lifting things that is really important to follow.  I would call the surgeon ---  your surgery was less than a week ago.  Tell him the activity you were doing and the pains you are having.  When was your post op check?  Probably coming up in the next few days, right?  they might want to see you a bit sooner.  Let us know what the doctor says.  But you are healing internally and it's important to take it easy!

I know, I haven't really been lifting anything, but I did move a heavy box on a dolly that involved using my weight to tilt it back, and I tripped on Sunday and had to catch myself kind of hard before I hit the ground.  That's what I really fear did it.  The first followup appointment is on the 31st, so 8 days from now.  The procedure was done on Tuesday, the 16th.

Today it feels a little better, the weird sensation every 30 seconds is much fainter, but it's still there.  I'm planning to try to talk to the surgeon today and see what he thinks.
