Discomfort and Pain after underarm waxing...

Hello! I'm 22 and I've been shaving my underarms for years. Only that for about a year I started to notice that shaving became really sore. It was uncomfortable to feel the blade on my skin (and I always use organic shaving cream) and it kind of hurt afterwards if I wore blouses with tight sleeves. Also, because my hair grows back so quickly and it is black and quite thick, I would have to shave daily for a clean aspect. More, the hairs started to grow 2 or 3 from the same root and no matter how hard I try when shaving I don't get a clean underarm and it looks and feels nasty. Not to mention that if I allow those "multiple" hairs to grow long enough so that I can put my finger on them and move them, it hurts. I haven't wore a sleeveless top in months now, since I am ashamed of how it looks. The skin sometimes get a bit greenish after shaving too and it just looks nasty. Instead I tried waxing, both with ordinary wax and organic sugar-based wax. It might have worked just fine, except that after I wax, my underarms hurt. And the pain lasts for weeks. And then the hairs would start to grow again and that hurts too, as they tend to get stuck under my skin. And the pain gets worse every time I use deodorant (again, I only use natural stuff, w/o any harmful chemicals) or wear tight sleeves. What should I do? Right now, I'm dealing with pain and discomfort almost three weeks after my last waxing attempt, and I only shaved 2 or three times during these 3 weeks, as the discomfort is getting more and more annoying... Please help! The soreness is so disrupting and I am starting to feel like Mowgli if I don't get clean shaved underarms soon...

Using cream didn't even cross my mind as I'm well aware of the whole chemistry lab they put inside and since I have multiple allergies it would be reckless for me to even try... Also, I double check the ingredients in every cosmetic product I use, deodorants included and I know that's not the cause... And I forgot to mention that I live in Romania, where is so damn hard to find a good doctor... Most of them are quite medically illiterate :(( I've seen 3 dermatologists so far, and they all say they don't know what to do about it and that I should let it be... Right now I'm switching from Wilkinson razors to the newest Gillette Venus available on the market here to see what happens.

I have used hair removal cream and had a bad reaction when I left it longer than I should have (I have dark noticeable hair as well).  If shaving is causing sensitivity, then I don't think that hair removal creams would necessarily be a good alternative because they are essentially chemicals that dissolve the hair, but it still has contact with the skin as well.

It might be possible that you have an infection or fungus causing these reactions that you did not have before.  Our skin changes as we get older, but I don't find the skin turning green to be a normal reaction at all.  Have you changed the brand or type of razor you are shaving with?

Using natural products does not mean you will not have any allergy or sensitivity to an ingredient.  Use a gentle soap and maybe even skip deodorant if possible for a couple of days to let your skin recuperate.  Since it's getting to be fall and winter season, it's easier to give your arms a break from shaving for a day or two.

Try not to be too rough with the razor, also.  With me, you can still see darkness where the hair is even if I have shaved as closely as possible.  And I also have the issue of multiple hairs growing from the same root, it's annoying.

If all else fails, maybe a doctor could prescribe something to clear up the symptoms.

Try to use hair removal cream like Nair or Veet. Leave it on for 2-3 minutes, rinse and the armpit will be smooth. Try not to get it on any hairless area of the armpit because it will irritate the bare skin.
