Dizziness, feeling confused, and Gerd

Over the past 4 months I have been diagnoesed with GERD. However, almost exactly to the day, I have had dizzy spells over the past year. Along with the dizziness, there is tension in the back of my head and neck. I have had a MRI- which came back negative and I have had many blood tests which were negative as well. I also recently have started feeling confused at times (its weird) and a shakey feeling. Last week I went to my doctor and they did more blod work (negative) and I had an ultrasound on my gallbladder which was negative. In a couple of weeks I am having the endoscopy test. (Which i am scared about). Also at times I have heart palpitations that scare me. I will admit that I am very stressed out at times due to work and such.

Does anyone have any of these similar symptoms?
What do I do..??

So insted of renaming all the symptoms. I have them too. I notice some of these post are from 2009. Does anyone get back on and respond with what their problem may have been? Every site you go to people say what they have but not what they did, if they are dead or still suffering. Im 2 years in now and would like to know if your cure is a secret or what... Thanks

Last summer I was diagnosed with bile reflux and I’ve been feeling really dizzy too. I feel like I’m going to faint all the time. It’s hard for me to focus on my school work and at times I just want to give up and stay home. I get confused too and I’ll forget things easy. Please help I can’t feel like this forever.

The best solution for that is the expert doctors because when they will catch proper diagnose in patient's body then they will give their best. Beside that in this case you have need to be more strong than earlier to recover as soon as possible in your life.

Hey, I am still struggling everyday but it's gotten much better, my work schedule changed and idk if it sparked something but I suddenly felt horrible. It was hard to explain almost like I was in an out of body foggy state of mind with constant nausea. It made me anxious and I started to feel depressed because I could not figure it out! Blood test negative - ulcer and acid reflux positive, so I completely changed my diet - no coffee alcohol cheese and so forth, and started a food log. Some days I feel perfectly fine- some a little shaky and strange but much better then I did before I knew! Best of luck to everyone, I'm gonna need it too haha!

I have felt not resally pain in the left arm but numbness and some tightness/pain under my left armpit. This really *****. I havent been diagnosed with GERD yet but I was told by my doctor that I have acid reflux. This really started to get back after I had a alcoholic drink which also had fireball and caspian oil for heat additive my friends gave me and its the worst idea ever!  totally burned my throat!

I went to go see a speciliest and they stuck a camera down my throat and they saw my throat was really apple red when it should be pink and said I had acid reflux but other then that luckily he said there wasnt any ulcers or something like that. I use to also put a lot of hot additive into my foods and loved spicy things! but that night I had bad throat, left arm numbness, tightness/pain under my armpit, and almost felt like I was going to pass out. Ever since this it has never been the same.

Right now I cant event eat most things without getting a little dizzy, fatigue, if i run or aggravate myself just for a few seconds my neck pulses and its like I feel it in my head, and get headaches especially from harsh foods, and ill get soft stools.! I always feel tired and even if I do get sleep I feel like I can sleep for hours and still feel tired. The only time I usually dont feel tired is in the evening. This has effect my life for the paste year.

Im on Omeprazole 40 MG perscription which is like the over the counter 20 MG Nexium just double that like if you were to take 2 nexium pills. Not sure if it does anything more then what Nexium does.

Which is supposed to reduce acid just at a stronger strength. It may be reducing acid but I still get affect by foods and how I feel. I really need to stop drinking sodas and having fast food.

Does anyone know what you can take to help with this? I also take a spoonful of extra virgin Olive Oil too to help sooth my throat. If someone knows what we can take to help fix this or relive all these symptoms that would be great!

I hate this feeling. It makes my face arms and legs feel numb. But actually they don't. I've had some painless pressure also in my ears and head that makes me feel unbalance or dizzy. Anxiety makes it worse. Hope we could regain or life the way it was before

Hi I am also experiencing similar symptoms, it started getting out of bed one day, I was getting dressed and I felt like dizzy spell coming on so lay back down for a couple of mins thinking that should fix it I must stood up to quick, But it came back on another three or four times just walking around, so I spent the morning just resting thinking it was maybe a virus, but it went on for  a few days so went to the DRs which I don't do very often as I am not one for getting sick but this was starting to get scary thoughts of brain tumours heart issues to name a few were now running thru my head, to be told blood pressure was pretty normal a little high but not to worry they did a ecg  which was all ok so they booked me in to wear halter a 24 hrs so they could monitor what was going on while these attacks were happening, which like most issues went in to quiet mode while I had the halter on then back into full swing the next day, x-ray's which showed lungs and heart to be in good shape.  They come on when I am moving around whether it be walking or doing daily chores, it starts with heavy feeling in the bottom of the throat then breathless then the head rush dizziness like I am going to pass out and have to quickly sit down, I have been asked what if I let it carry on by not sitting down and see what happens but I am worried if I fall I might break something and I cant afford to be broken as well :) as I have a very busy life with work and such, the inconvenience of the whole thing is enough to stress anyone out, not knowing where to turn next to find an answer or a fix for the problem I am 55 years old and have always been the backbone for everyone with the attitude if you cant change it forget it move on, so have found the option of it being stress related very hard to swallow

I also have Reflux symptoms are wide spread.  From that tearing, heart attack feeling to joint soreness, ear aches and sore throat.    The acid can actually travel into your sinuses and ear canal which can cause dizziness and the foggy out of body feeling.   Many doctors just don't get it but it can happen.   See your ENT and descibe your reflux symptons and they can sometimes help   I take a 2mg diazepam for the vertigo and it helps the anxiety from the symptoms which is also a be reason for the foggy, dizziness.  Reflux is an awful disease. I had the fundulation surgery about 13 years ago and felt great for about 10 years after but those repairs wear out eventually and back come those awful symptoms.   Diet seems to help if you can stay consistent.   I also bought a reflux pillow for sleep.  Wow did that help.   You can get those on Amazon.    Best of luck...

Yes i been getting a similar feeling. It starts out as confusion then into a bad sweet followed by wet sweats then finishes up with the sweat turning to freeze me. I then feel off for the whole day. I can sense when this could happen. I get woken up from my sleeps, I then know the next day will be a bad one with lots of spells. Hang in there I know it's not fun feeling this way. In the brain it leaves me feeling alone, odd, and moody. Please help ANYONE if you have an answer or an idea how to help!!!!!!!!

Chocolatefreak, has the raw honey helped with the reflux?  I took Pylera and Prilosec for H. Pylori bacteria over a month ago and I'm still dealing with the side effects;  weakness, lightheaded/spacey feeling, tingling/shakiness, off balanced and other symptoms that I did not have prior to taking the medication.  Many have improved, but some are lingering, but I'm believing that in time it will all subside.

I have been fighting weakness, dizziness, confusion, memory problems, ever since I was put on meds for an ulcer...3 months I sat around in what I call a comatose like state..returned to Dr.,he took me off the meds,am still not back to normal..did some research,my guess like me,Many people out there, are effected by medications...I found RAW HONEY is like a peroxide for the stomach,as well as other good benefits.. And bananas, herbal teas..I much rather take a natural cure, instead of meds... Well Still not myself  8 months later.no energy, but I do remember yesterday..I thought I was a slow healer, because of  my autoimmune disease..so maybe we ARE A Small percentage of a different type of person..I DID NOT dare try any other type of Pepcid, Nexium..my blood pressure dropped so low,That Alone was SCAREY ...

Are you still having success with Pepsid AC?  I cannot take Nexium or Prilosec so I'm looking at all of my options OTC and natural.

I loved your post from 2008 which I had just come across. How are you feeling?
I too try the Holistic method first and would love to learn the name of your Chinese practitioner. Maybe he can refer me to someone in my area.

Thank you so much for giving me hope through your post. I was beginning to feel really scared that this is happening to only me, or so I thought.

OMG, I have seen several doctors and I've gotten more answers by reading the posts at this site than from all my doctors.

Was diagnosed with IBS years ago, but recently told I was misdiagnosed and that my discomfort is from h. pylori bacteria.

So you are saying that the daily lightheaded/dizziness, anxiety, jittery feeling, feeling like food is stuck in my chest, reflux, numbness/tingling/pain in my left arm, bloated belly after eating a small amount of food, ear pressure, brain fog, forgetfulness, feeling like I'm about to pass out, nausea, burning in my throat, unbalanced feeling, spacey feeling, head fullness, blurry vision, jaw pain, body ache, muscle ache, extremely lethargic, did I mention nausea dizziness jittery nervous anxious feeling?!!  And all of this is GERD and/or hiatal hernia?

I have endoscopy scheduled in a couple days to see what exactly is going on...I've been through the treatment for h. pylori which was brutal because I experience many side effects stemming from the medications Pylera and Prilosec.

What are some natural remedies that actually work?  I'm already drinking ginger tea, eating a bland diet, exercising when I can, taking probiotics, Kefir, and Greek Yogurt.

Your list of symptoms are exactly what I have been experencing. The doctors keep telling me it's anxiety related but I dont feel like im anxious about anything. I can't enjoy life like I used to. Sometimes when my GERD is in fullforce it seems like my eyes are glassy, like I can't focus, my head is in a fog, I get shaky, my throat is tight like someone is choking me, my tongue burns,I get a headache, I cough alot and have sinus issues all the time it is just horrible. Ive been on Nexium for a couple of years and at first it worked wonders now it doesn't and my symptoms are worse than ever. I just want to feel normal again. There has to be something that can alleviate these problems we are all having. People who have never experienced this would never understand. I feel like people think im a hypochondriac but the symptoms I am having are very real. It sux.
Same symptoms for me as well.  Did not know I had GERD until I had a round of prednisone which make it decidedly NOT silent.  Trying prilosec now, starting today.
A person commented below this that their throats is tight and they are coughing along with all these symptoms. I didn't know it, but I had all these symptoms and had an endoscopy.

The results came back that I had acid reflux but also eosinophilic esophagitis. This condition has only been described within the past few years. It is characterized by inflammation of the esophagus and can make it difficult to swallow. I don't have difficulty swallowing at all, but I do cough a lot after eating certain foods and I think this may be due to the inflammation in my esophagus. My GI prescribed 40mg omeprazole and Flonase to spray down my throat. I'm not doing the steroids but the omeprazole has worked wonders. Although I'm wary of taking such a high dose for extended period because it decreases calcium absorption.

Now I have itchy butt which may be yeast so I'm investigating these forums to see if it's associated with the Omeprazole. Doc gave me diflucan for that.

Shwoo... the medications are piling up. I've also considered medication for anxiety/depression, but I find the best medicine for that is exercise.

My gallbladder also has 13% ejection fraction (had a HIDA scan). My GI says removing gallbladder might cure me. I'm still thinking it will help. My diet has become very limited over past year and a half. I've lost 35 pounds, which I needed to do, so hopefully I can heal this as long as extra fat comes off, and I stick to dietary changes.

Natural healing takes so much more time and effort, but after this round of omeprazole that may be the route I choose. I really miss coffee!
