Fluid retention can it cause a false hydration result on blood test?

I have not been able to drink any fluids for 9 days due to not being able to swallow as I have muscular dystrophy. The doctor said my blood test say i am hydrated. I haven’t had any urine output today & has been decreasing over the last few days. I have severe chronic fluid retention, can this severe retention give a false hydration result on blood test as it’s counted as fluid?

Wow, you are not drinking due to MD swallowing issues?  I'm sorry to hear that.  What your doctor said does not sound right.  I would not think fluid retention would alter hydration test.  That accumulation of fluid you are retaining is a symptom in itself that should be evaluated.  I would get a second opinion.  Do you have headache?  Nausea?  Severe hydration can cause a host of symptoms including those and rapid heart rate.  If you have no urine output, you need to see a doctor.  Especially with your complicated medical history.  good luck and please let us know how you are doing.
