Gigantism

I remember getting tested for it when I was much younger, like 10 years old. I am 21 now. My doctor said she was checking for it, as I had blood test every time I visited her. My height, weight, hand and feet were measured every time I went. I believe I'm most likely worrying over nothing, but I need to know. I have read the symptoms of gigantism and have ALL of them. The only thing not matching up is my height though. I am about 5'10 and I have read that people with gigantism average 7ft-9ft.

Here are some of my measurements
hand: about 7.5 inches
width of hand: 4 inches

wrist: 8 inches around
and I cannot make my middle finger and thumb touch each other when I wrap them around my wrist. That has me concerned too as I have seen everyone else I know be able to do it.

feet: I wear a size 12

head: about 26 inches around

other factors: I have diabetes T2, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hypothyroidism, anemia, vitamin D deficiency, asthma, allergies (though I do not know what I am allergic to) and I strongly believe I have PCOS because I have read up the symptoms of that and have all of them

My voice is deep.
I have thick facial hair and chest hair.
My neck is covered in skin tags on both sides and I have a few on the back of it and maybe two on the front. Also they have grown on my upper belly and under my armpits.
I have headaches very often.
My vision has been pretty funny lately.
I have not had a period all year and not much last year. I didn't get it until I was 13 and even then it was hit and miss like every month. For a few years now I used to have it a year, then it wouldn't happen next year and then the year after that it would come back. Since I have not had any I am thinking my cycle will come back in 2014.
I have all of my teeth but in the front they are very spaced out.
My neck is thick and the front of it is fat and heavy and even hangs down onto my chest a little.
My belly seems to always be bloated and it hurts often. When I gain weight it mostly goes to my stomach.
I have a large vagina. When I went to get a pap smear the doctor had to get the biggest tool and it was not big enough but he had to use it anyway.
I sweat all the time and my skin is very oily.

So I just want some one to let me know is it possible I have gigantism? Is it something someone is born with or can you get it anytime? Should I be concerned and immediately see a doctor?

I feel I am in a great need of help. I do not have any medical insurance though and I worry that if I need medication or surgeries I won't be able to get them. If anyone can also tell me how I can go about getting some insurance or what should I do in this situation I will be most grateful.

I have enclosed a picture of myself from when I was in 3rd grade. I was 10 at the time, the time I started visiting an endocrinologist.

Thanks,
Jess

I really don't think it is giantism because you are missing two main symptoms, extreme height and overly enlarged organs. The rest of your symptoms can be explained by hormone imbalance or just genetics. The health department is a good place to get the help you need.

Also you may want to stay away from the self-diagnostics. They are often wrong or misleading, and a doctor uses much more than a list of symptoms to diagnose a patient.

PS  You might try going to your local Health Dept. to see what help they can offer you.  they might know a doctor who would be willing to help you for free or for a small fee.

While I can see that you are larger than most the kids in your class, you are not particularly tall now.  Acromegaly people are usually much taller.  I suspect that you need to see an endocrinologist or see a woman doctor (gynocologist) who can help you.  It sounds like you need some female hormones to get you back in shape.
A good doctor will help you not only get the hormones you need, but will put you on a good diet and will direct you to someone who can remove some of the most annoying skin tags.  There are ointments on the market today that "starve" the skin tags off - but sometimes having the doctor clip them off is better as it is faster.
If you present doctor is not interested in helping you, find another doctor who will.

    Wishing you the best
