Grayish spot at the central vision

I'm 30 years old. I found that my left eye has a blank patch on the central vision. I went to an eye specialist and i was diagnosed to have macular hole. I was advised to do vitrectomy as soon as possible. Then I went to another retina specialist, i was told that i was wrongly diagnosed, and was told that i had a viral infection due to my immune system (but my medical check up reports showed that i'm fine), and thus no surgery is needed. Since it is forming a scar, therefore, nothing i can do, and my vision will be permanently in this same condition - grayish spot at the central vision.
What more measures can i take? I am afraid that it might affect my right eye.

Thank you for the reply.
My doctor suspect that i have toxoplasmosis. Went for a blood test, pending for results. Now he is giving me antibiotics and advise me to take a type of steroid for a month. However i;m pretty reserve in taking it.

you may do fluroscein angiography to see if there an affection of the vessels of the macula or attenuation in them or not

I have diabetic retinopathy and have had vitrectomys in both eyes at different times due to retinal hemorrhages. I am so thankful that this procedure cleared my vision and has been part of my eye care. If you need to have the surgery, it’s not as bad as you may imagine.

My advice is to make sure you have a retinal specialist you trust. In the Atlanta area David d’Hurele at Atlanta Retina PC is the best. I needed someone with a conservative approach since other doctors wanted to do extreme laser treatments which would have “killed” portions of my eyes and would have caused loss of vision. Dr. d. was used by God to save my sight.

Your situation isn’t the same as mine, but a good doctor will discuss with you all your options. Don’t wait. Seek a third opinion and forth if necessary until you find someone who is right for you. I’ve already said a prayer for you.
