Health Insurance

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me with a health insurance question? About a year ago Anthem Covered two separate visits to the doctors office that I had gone to. So initially they paid and I thought I was all set. Now, almost a year later, they retracted payment due to my coverage ending within days of the visits. I understand if I wasn't covered, but I am wondering how they can pay for it and then decide they were wrong and bill me a year later? Couldn't this cause serious financial problems for people due to their mistake? Do I have any recourse here or do you think I should pay? Thanks for any help.

The insurance companies do all kinds of things to people and don't care about your finacial situation. They probably didn't notice it at first then came back and charged you. Maybe they will let you make payments. I fyou weren't covered at that time you have to pay.

Thanks for the replies. I researched it a little bit more and think I have found the answer for future readers. The insurance company can go back  anywhere from 6 months to indefinitely, depending on your state, and retract payments. Most states are 12-24 months. Like I said, I don't mind paying if I wasn't covered, I'm just unhappy that they dropped an unexpected bill on me a year later due to a mistake they made. I guess I can't get too mad since I should have been aware of my cut off date, still a year is a long time for a bill that I thought was paid to show up.

As I recall  a doctors office did this to me too a long time ago and it was about a year and a half later. I still don't know for sure if I didn't double pay as I couldn't find the receipt. Good luck!!
