Heat Related Illness Recovery

I got heat exhaustion (Or similar) while at work during wed/thursday last week, and I still can't handle any semblence of heat, my eyesight is goofy, and my mind sluggish. I have a terrible sense of balance and I have trouble typing properly, I sometimes have to type the same word over ten to fifteen times to spell it right. Even if it's something simple like 'the'.  
My mom forced me to the doctor but it was a simple in and out and 'drink lots of fluids' bit
What should I do?
I can't barely function right now Advice?

  An ENT specialist might be what you need, they will determine if it is something more, and If need be take it to the next level, hopefully this is the end of your journey, and they will find and fix you, I so hope that is what happens, you dont need to go through all the other stuff, but If it is something more dont hesitate to ask questions, I will always try to help you the best I can.

August 22nd I get to see a specialist although I'm not 100% sure a ENT specialist is the right one ^^; Still it's better than nothing.

  Good for you, get in to see specialist and make sure to pay attention !  if need be write down all questions you have prior to going, and do not be afraid to ask questions.   Good Luck...

Just got word. He wants to send me to a specialist. I've been kinda loopy so I have no idea where I'm standing but that's where I'm standing right now I think.

Yeah the symptoms haven't let up...I really don't like how this is acting...

Meclizine is an antihistamine and anticholinergic. It works by blocking a chemical messenger in the brain, which helps to reduce or prevent vomiting.

Meclizine is used to treat or prevent nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. It is also used for vertigo (or dizziness) caused by certain inner ear problems.  This drug also has other uses, but maybe this will help you see where he is going with this, and if symptoms continue insist on a specialist if your Dr. does not seem to want to treat you.  I am not a Dr. and am not trying to tell you what to do, only to inform you, and remember no one knows your body like you do.... I hope this helps.

He put me on Meclizine

And I dunno exactly what he's been thinking is wrong. If anything. A lot of docs in the area apparently are on the 'you're faking it' track of thought is my assumption right now...
That or Doc is still focused on 'drink plenty of fluids' which I'd say 64 oz of powerade a day and water is 'plenty of fluid'...

  what meds did Dr. put you on ? and of course meds dont usally work right away, so it probably will take a little time.  
  When you see your Dr. make sure that you are informed as to what they think is wrong and why they are treating with the medication prescribed to you, this is very important !!!!  and dont be afraid of a second opinion after all this is your body and your life.

He didn't say what he thought it was. Still somewhat dizzy, the meds have helped with that some, but it hasn't solved some parts of the issue. Called the physician's office today. Hope to hear more soon.

Went to doctor, he seemed a little baffled by the symptoms but confident that a medication will take care of it. On it now, hoping for it to fix the problem. Should know more by tomorrow...(Got to give it time to fully work after all...)
But yeah, I'll keep you as posted as I can. Once this medication does or doesn't start working I can say more... Hoping it's not MS, that sounds really scary.

   ms is multiple sclerosis, and yes your doctor typically needs to refer you, if they wont insist on it. M.S. is where plaques build up on nerves in the brain hindering there ability to function properly, typical signs of M.S. are blurry vision or loss of sight in one or more eyes, loss of balance, loss of strength in hands or arms, or legs, basically the loss of motor functions in the body, it is possible that your symptoms where brought on by the heat exhaustion and may go away, but if it is something more, you need to take care of it before it gets out of hand, heat also affects people with M.S. horribly I am no Dr. but I do have a wife with M.S. that is why when I read your question it brought back thoughts of what she went through.. good luck..   I hope this helps..

Err...MS? Sorry but I'm not familiar with the term... I'll go see a doc soon at any rate. Thanks... Do you know if I need to be referred to a neurologist or soemthing? If not cool.

  Go see a neurologist let them know what is going on, this could be side effects from the heat exhaustion or it could be damage done, or you male or female, I ask this because female run a higher risk of having M.S. and some of the symptoms you described sound typical of M.S. either way get in to see a neurologist right away dont wait the neurologist should be able to help you figure out what is wrong and get you back on track...... good luck, dont wait too long...
