Irritation from Liquid Washing Detergents

Hi,

My wife is having some irritation on her hands and forearms due to the use of Sunlight washing detergent. She used it to clean the clothes with her hands. She's tried toothpaste but I don't believe it's working. Can anyone tell me about some ointment that will be useful to ease her irritation and pain?

Regards,
Qasim

It sounds like your wife is reacting badly to something in the detergent.I would suggest that in future she wears rubber gloves when handling detergent and also she should consider switching products to something for sensitive skin.A product that is formulated for washing baby clothes is probably best. After making sure she has washed all of the detergent off her skin I would suggest applying an ointment such as E45 cream and maybe take an antihistamine to stop the itching. If it doesn't improve quickly she should see her doctor as she may need a prescription cream.I hope your wife is feeling better soon.

Sorry, I meant laundry soap. I also use an organic dish soap too.

I use an organic dish soap. You can find them at many grocery stores. Your wife might want to give that a try. I'm allergic to many cleaners and soaps but this dish soap does not irritate my hands at all.   Remar

Thanks a lot for the tips. I got hold of Hydrocortisone cream and she's feeling much better now after using it. I'll definitely keep an eye on the type of detergent next time we shop.

Thank you again.
