yep could very well be the start of your period..... You are becoming a WOMAN ;))
Hi Azza,
Yes I think you will be having your period soon. At 13, you still have our hymen which may be stopping the blood from flowing freely, and when you first start, periodic bleeding may happen before full menstruation. Your mum and friends likely don't have a hymen so this wouldn't happen to them. Blood turns brown after it has been exposed to air, so don't worry about it. I would recommend wearing a small pantyliner and carrying a full pad in your purse so you're ready wherever you are. Some girls have a thick hymen with small holes, this may be the case, but a hymen certainly won't stop your period when it starts fully, although it may make wearing a tampon uncomfortable. (for me it was impossible to insert a tampon at your age). It's also common to have a bit of blood to start, it's called spotting. The spotting can also happen two weeks before your period when your hormones change during your cycle.
Once you start, it would be helpful to take a look at what you eat as it will make a difference in your pre-menstrual symptoms (PMS). Some women also take an iron supplement to help with amenia which can make one feel pale and weak.

Take care and hope your first goes smoothly! It's wonderful we're lucky as women to have the joy of having a baby when we get older. The struggles with menstruation are small considering the gift of children. Take it easy and be good to yourself when you have your period. Your mum and friends sound very loving to help you through this.

The brown stuff is called old blood and means you should be getting a normal period soon. It is common even with women who have had a period for several years. Best wishes, Sissie
