Itching in groin area

Disclaimer: sorry if this is TMI! Really seeking some guidance here
I have been on birth control (same brand) for 4 years and I had noticed that my external vaginal area would be itchy periodically. That started about 2 years ago and I found that taking a yeast infection treatment didn't help so I assumed it was a natural side effect of BC. In the past few months the problem has worsened and the inner labia down to perineum and anus are now constantly red and more frequently itchy. It seems to be some sort of inverse psoriasis because I have that smooth pink rash in my butt crack and a one or two bumps. To make things worse, I'm taking accutane right now (not sure if that's caused any of this) and I've noticed I'm more prone to hard stools that have caused what I think is an anal fissure. Please help me Sad I haven't been to a doctor yet because I am embarrassed and if the cure is something non-prescribed I would rather try that first. I am not sexually active right now but would imagine sex would be unpleasant in my current state!

Please don't be embarrassed- its nothing to be embarrassed about! I used to work at a Dr office - believe me they heard it all! And much much worse than your rash! People have all kinds of problems Dr are not impressed or oncerned by any of them! You probably need to see your gynecologist bc of the location of your problem. Don't suffer any longer with this Call your Dr honey.

You may have a yeast infection but it may be resistant strain to the medicines they have in the stores. See if they have one without Azole at the end. If they have a vaginal Terbinafine that would work (but if it is only for  athletes foot don't use it). Otherwise you will have to get a culture done from the doctor to see what it is. Another thought is trying the Terbinafine spray on the outside (not in the vagina) just to see if it works for about a week or two and if it does then you know you have to get a internal type for the vagina too or anal area. Terbinafine (Lamisil) can be used for jock itch and the private areas so it should be okay.
