Knot above belly button; not a hernia

I am actually not sure where to post this question. I had been taking antibiotics since November for what the Dr.'s thought was a UTI. The antibiotics would stop the infection for about 2 weeks and then it would be back stronger than it was. Last Monday I called the urologist and told her that I have a knot above my belly button and it is very tender. She immediately referred me to a surgeon to be checked for a hernia. I just came from his office and he said it is not a hernia. I am very nauseous, i have a lot of pain in my lower back, and it burns when I urinate. The surgeon said that there is nothing he can do because it is not a hernia and ordered an exray for Monday. I do not have a discharge and I have been tested for STD's and everything came back negative. I am no longer taking antibiotics and the only medicine I take is my birth control pill which is Lybrel. Does anyone have any idea of what maybe going on, I really cannot take many more "I don't know answers: from the doctors.

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same issue all the way to the single bump on my forearm.

I'm a 37 yo male.  Have almost the same symptoms. Always have a had back pain. Noticed a bump right above my belly button. Mine isn't tender really and seems to come and go.  It sometimes burns when I urinate.  I'm STD free also.  Just by chance I want to see if you have another similar symptom.  I get a single itchy bump on my forearm. It only appears for about 30 minutes then goes away.  When it comes back it is in the same exact spot. Sometimes it is weeks apart when this bump appears.

Sounds like me, I always get recurring infections despite treatment with antibiotics, currently no idea why or what is going on. Do you know if any of the effects you are having are related to your Birth Control? might be worth looking into the side effects of that. and also sounds like you could use a second opinion from a different doctor. I hope you find the answers you're seeking. Good luck to you and take care of yourself. Sincerely, Elizabeth
