Toilet Water

Hi
I recently had to retrieve from my house toilet and my hand got wet from the toilet water. I did not use it previously and I'm not sure if it was cleaned yet. How do I get rid of all the germs on it and can i get any diseases from it?

I just want to add to be sure to use your elbow to turn water off, or use a paper towel to turn faucet off, depending on your type of fixture. If you used pump soap and have any Lysol wipes or similar, then wipe off everything you touched before you washed and everything you touched after the first wash. With your fingers damp from the Lysol wipe, tear off clean paper towels to dry with after each hand wash.
I am sure you will be fine. Our skin is a great barrier to more than we know! If you had any cuts or broken skin, follow-up your hand washing with triple antibiotic cream/ointment and a bandaid. The just watch the wounds. Otherwise, you'll be fine. We have trouble w stuff falling into toilet all the time.

Just wash your hands with warm soapy water very well. I would wash them a couple of times to make sure you got all surface areas of your hands clean and rinse well. Did you have any  open wound on your hand or scratch that was open? If not then you should be O.K.
