Mother has swollen nodes in axillary, chest pain, deep dry cough

Hi. My mother is 75 years old and in overall good health.  Recently, she has had a deep, dry raspy cough that will not go away.  She went to a practitioner and was found to have swollen axillary lymph nodes.  She has chest pains, arm pains, and her voice sounds different-more labored.

She is having a CT scan on Tuesday, had a mammogram Friday, and will have a stress test if found necessary.  Do you have any ideas as to what her diagnosis might be.  We are taking her for all the needed tests, but I am curious what it might be.  She doesn't smoke, but both of her husbands were fairly heavy smokers and smoked in the house and car so she had to breathe it for several years.

It could be allergies, and another possibility, asthma or bronchitis.. Being she was exposed to second hand smoke for so long, it is wise to have all the tests that she is having to rule all things serious out.

Good luck, please keep us informed
