Mysterious problem with stomach/digestion, 2 years, in need for help.

I have, the last to years, had mysterious issues with my stomach/gut-brain system. It all started for about 2 years ago when I had a stomach virus or something similar; feeling queezy, severe severe pain in the abdomen, nausea and vomiting one time.

After that I have led with constant nausea, periodic nausea and "pulsing" nausea, sudden nausea while eating (need to spit out the food and take a sip of water and continuing eating is very though), nausea when laying in bed 20-60 minutes after eating (subsides after staying awake for maybe an hour standing), belching, bloating, indigestion (felt like the food stayed in the gut for 8 hours sometimes), anxiety-induced nausea when taking public transport or in deep malls and similar places where nearest exit is far away etc. Also, sometimes some time after a meal, usually in the afternoon, it feels like there is a big pressure pushing food upwards so I have to concentrate to hold it down, but this goes away after a couple of hours with hell...

The nausea comes from the throat or head the majority of the time, and rarely from the gut. I feel like the nausea is very sensitive to become worse by stress and what I think of, and sometimes it can skyrocket if I cringe by what someone I overhear is saying. And no, I am 100% sure that this is not only a psychological problem that is only caused by myself because I have never been this bad before. Sometimes the nausea I have when I am not eating is relieved for some seconds while and after I am yawning.

Now I have problems with eating together with anyone, but this is not a big problem the days I feel better. The strange with this is that some days and sometimes throughout the day I feel a lot better, and does not have any of the symptoms, but I still do not feel "cured".

First off, my doctor thought I had GERD and gave me the PPI's Nexium and Lanzoprazol. They have checked my bloodwork multiple times, but have not find anything wrong, except that my iron levels are very low recently (probably as a result of taking PPI's for 2 years now). I have also had a gastroscopi and coloscopi where they found everything normal and they said my gut looked very fine except from that it was bleeding easily. I have also taken MRI of the abdomen and X-ray of my chest, without finding any unusual.

The only pain I experience is from a spot on the left side from my navel, but the pain lasts very short and happens very rarely. This can happen just two times a month, but it is at the exact same spot every time. The pain can be described as if something in my abdomen was a ballon that is pumped up so hard as if it were to explode.

Else than that, other things worth to mention is that I have bowel movements regularly, but when I was at my worst the color of the bowel movement often was dark green, and I usually experience chills in my body even in hot environments. I have no acid reflux at all, and no chest pain. The symptoms does not clearly depend on certain foods I ingest as I can eat the exact same foods every day and be bad some days and good others (6/10 days I am bad ~). My appetite are also lacking, even days when I almost never eat anything.

I have no clue what this is and hope you can help me find or suggest what is causing this. I need to be fixed as soon as possible because I have big ambitions as I am a person that many think can do really big, but this problem has held me back so hard for 2 years now. Come gladly with questions for further explanation. Thanks in advance!

UPDATE OF TODAYS CONDITION            ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today my condition is better, but I am still bothered much of the same. Now I can feel almost totally fine for days, then suddenly the ailments recur and can go on for a week or less. One thing that is important to note is that I am usually getting much better in the weekends or holidays and if I get lots of sleep (> 8 hours). There is three main ailments that bothers me:

1. Sudden intense nausea while eating - now it almost only occur after I have lifted weights, especially after workout of the abdominals, and lasts only 2-5 hours if I eat. I usually down my food, but I use plenty of time and strive at the end of the meal not to become too nauseous. Note that the nausea does not come from the taste of the foods, it just like appears as if you were hit by a jellyfish. The nausea kind of builds up if I eat fast or if I have eaten a good amount of food. Sometimes it can be unbearable to drink water when this occurs, and I can only take small sips if any. The whole thing can be describes as if my stomach is full when it is not, and without me feeling full, only queezy, and as if the food is pushing towards the esophagus.

2. I also often experience the feeling of being close to vomit, but without being nauseous when I can calm the gut. It is hard to control if I am in a situation where I am can't reach outdoor when I want to. An example to such a situation can be when I have this awful feelig and  put shampoo in my hair; then I have to shower it off my head before I can exit the bathroom and step outside (it usually never tips over so that I have to go outdoor though). It is like my gut pushes the food up towards my esophagus or if my stomach was very sensitiv and could get me to vomit if I am getting stressed about it. When I get this feeling, my stomach usually feels like it is a big pressure in it and that I have to concentrate not to let it flow up and out, even if it is hours since last meal.

3. The nausea comes from the throat, and the same feeling can occur without feeling the pressure in my stomach, and then my throat is feeling tensed up and I unconsciously become more irritated and aware on mucus in it. My mouth and tongue also feels different when the nausea is present, as a mild tensed sensation in the whole mouth. Yawning often helps to alleviate the nausea for some seconds.

Before I got sick I had an amazing appetite and could eat 4500-5000 kcals a day with ease. I used to train really hard and dedicated 5-6 times every week, but suddenly I got messed up and now the only thing I want at this moment is to lift weights, but this condition keeps holding me back.

I would appreciate every answer, I am desperate for help! My doctors may be able to fix this, but I seek help from the internet because health care in Norway takes forever.

Yes, I have tried some pro biotics with like 10 billion cultures, but only for a short period of time. Maybe a full week or so:)

Thank you so much for answering! I have actually taken the breathe test without finding anything, unfortunately. I have also gone through an endoscopy as you probably read. The biggest problem is the nausea that comes from the throat or esophagus. It kind of feels like an allergic reaction to something, a very tense feeling but with nausea as well. Hm, I think I just have to check for every possible cause. I am so tired of this, it is like living at 20%, but I should not complain. It is just that I have the opportunity to live so much better, but this mysterious condition is holding everything back.

I will take your advice, although I do that already! :D

Hello, nausea, stress and also felt being trapped in a narrow place, which always made you sit closer to exits or avoid public transportation?

I had it before, I gave blood tests and nothing odd was found. However, I learned about a bacterium called H.Pylori, and found out that it's so common among people, often asymptotic for a long while. Until your body begins to react by developing an inflammation in your digestive track. Symtoms are basically everything you've mentioned. Sometimes drinking water would suppress the feeling of nausea, but it doesn't cure the cause.

There are several ways to detect H-pylori, one of which is a specific antigen blood test but it's not very accurate because it doesn't give a final answer on whether the infection is current or past.

My advice is to undergo an endoscopy, it's the most accurate and best method to understand what's going inside your stomach, be it H-pylori or anything else.

Another less-expensive and more quick method is the breathe test, it's very accurate when it comes to H-pylori.
Until then, try drinking more yogurt or kefir, they'll quickly put your symptoms off.

I'd also advise you to avoid citrus food sources, for a while.
