I'm sorry, you're probably going to wonder why I'm even responding to your question.  I have had chronic pain for the last two years and have had one diagnosis after another.  Neuropathy has been one of them.  I so feel your pain (literally).  Make sure you have a good doctor, get more than one opinion and don't just let them try to give you a bunch of pills unless they know FOR SURE what is going on.  I have a new doctor now who is trying to get me into the MAYO clinic, who won't take me yet because all the doctors I've seen here who tried to "fix" me gave me pills and the MAYO clinic says I'm poly-pharmacy.  I am so sorry that you are going through this and I truly hope that you get a true and final diagnosis so that proper remedies can be made.  I know it hurts, but don't give up and don't (what ever you do) just take their word for it.  Plus, whatever medications they do give you, ALWAYS check the side effects, because I have had so many prescribed that can cause some of the same symptoms I am already having.  FYI, if you are in a small town in Michigan, you're screwed (pardon the expression) because that's where I'm at and they aren't prepared to handle anything out of the ordinary.  I'm here to listen if you need to talk, I don't know anybody else who has the same problem I do...  Good luck, sorry I wasn't much help.
