Nipples getting hard...and its not cold..

I am a 20 year old female and my nipples, for the past week, have been getting hard randomly for no reason, and its not even cold when they do. Is this a sign for pregnancy? If not then why?

I ended up having mine cut off surgically. If they bother you that much, you should do the same. Don't listen to these ignorant ***** who tell you that you need them. NO you don't ******* NEED them. You don't need them to feed your kids, because there is formula you can buy, and of course you don't need them for sex. Nipples are actually the most usless part on a woman's body. You can survive without them. Trust me I have for 5 years and absolutely love being nipple free. My husband loves my body as well.

No..nipples are the most important part of women Because as a mother , mother want the best for her baby and i am totally disagree about we dont need nipples to breast feeding to baby . On my opinion breast feeding is the best and natural way to develop baby imunity . To make them stronger and healthier without depending on medicine or formula that you can at the store. I am not saying formula arent good ..its otherwise because it a alternative way to feed your baby if you breast have dried out and need sometimes to refill or generate more milk . if you notice the box of formula you buy for your baby have written breast feeding is the best feeding for baby . Even the box say so. To strengthen my opinion breast feeding create the feeling love toward your baby and baby feel the same way too. Its give the warmth feeling inside to see happy face from your baby . Isn't that wonderful moment to be cherish ? Finally when about sex , it depend on your husband taste . Its true somestime nipples are useless when comes to sex .because some people couldn't get aroused . Like i say it depend on your taste buds. If you like it or not it different story .

I have this problem also...I just deal with it by wearing padded bras  and/or these small adhesive cloths called Petals, which adhere to your nipples and really helps alleviate the problem. Other than that I dont worry about it.

Nipples can get hard for many reasons..arousal, ovulation, pregnancy, age, piercing(past or present)..it all depends..nothing to worry about..alot more would be happening if pregnant.

It's not exactly a sign of pregnancy, it's just a pretty common thing with women.  I'm not sure what causes it exactly, probably slight hormone fluctuations.  Sexual arousal will cause them to get hard too.  I've never heard of this being a health issue, though it could be slightly embarrassing at times, but if they are constantly hard for no reason that you can see, I'd ask a doctor.
