No Toe nail shower?

Hello, i recently had an in-grown toe nail removed and i have no toe nail right now. The doctor wrapped it and never told me about bathing. So i was wondering if you can take a shower with no nail, the toe its self kinda hurts still. And do you think it will hurt if i wet it?

This is a really old thread (2013), but for anyone interested,  you should talk to your doctor about showering, bathing.    That said - I had both my big toe nails removed, along with the “roots” so they wouldn’t grow back.  I was able to  take the bandages off as soon as there was no more bleeding through the bandages - couple of days and was able to go ahead and bathe/shower as long I made sure to dry the area well.  I was also instructed to keep the areas uncovered as much as possible (as long as there was no bleeding) in order for air to get to it and help with drying/healing.

Bathing/showering may be okay, as long as you don’t “soak” the toe and make sure you get it good and dry when you’re finished.

The doctor should have given instructions at the time of surgery, but, if not, be sure to ask.

Hello~For any that may have this issue. It is always best to let a injury or surgery removal heal before getting wet. If you need to take a shower or bath, then put a plastic bag over it or some type of water-proof dressing. I doubt if it will hurt it too much if the surgery was performed a few weeks prior, it should have had some time to heal.

Best to call your doctor and ask.  You can take a bath with your foot sticking out for now, or tape some plastic over the toe to keep it dry and then untape it after the shower (just don't get the tape near the wound).

I know it will not heal if you get it wet.  It should be kept dry until healed.  Blessings - Blu

You should keep the toe completely dry until it is completely healed.
Wetting it will slow down the healing process.

You can clean the rest of your foot with a damp flannel.

Did the doctor not tell you to come back within a certain time to have the wrapping removed?

If you are unsure what to do or whether you need to see the doctor again then ring the surgery and ask your question.

Best wishes.
