I have numbness and tingling in my legs (thighs) when I lay down to go to sleep. Mostly in my left leg. But. It only
happens while I am lying on my back. ??

You may have a pinched nerve in your back or a few places for that fact. I would see a doctor. There is something called "RLS". (Restless Leg) There is so many possibilities. I really don't think that you should wait to long to be seen. The last thing i am sure you don't want, is to wake up and not be able to walk. Best wishes to you. -Mary

Angel is right. You need a mri to see if the disk are bulging or herniated or what exactly is pressing on the nerve. It would be best to go to a neurologist because not all GP are experienced enough to read a mri properly.  Don't go to a chiro. until you find out the cause. Getting your back adjusted without knowing could cause serious damage. There is a chart on my profile that shows the spinal nerves and their function. This may be helpful if you are having any other problems that you are not associating with your back. Please be careful leaving this untreated could lead to paralysis and inability to control parts of your body. Trust me I have been there and doing that. I left mine and now only have 22% of the feeling from my waist down. Good luck to you.

I get that alot too Ollie.  It has something to do with the pressure of your disks sitting on your nerves.  When that happens, the vertibrae compresses causing the nerve to get pinched which leads to pain or numbness and tingling.  See a chiropracter and a physician.  That is all I can tell you.
