Like suggested many times before, you should keep a written record of what you eat and drink to be able to identify the culprit food/s and/or drinks and avoid it.
As you have noticed that you start to feel worse when you have any type of dairy - then the simple solution is to avoid all types of dairy.
My granddaughter is lactose intolerant and has to avoid anything that contains lactose otherwise she will come out in a rash and become grumpy. Even her mother that was breastfeeding her had to avoid all dairy because of the her being lactose intolerant. To begin with when she was a few days old she was very ill with severe diarrhea until a midwife suggested that the baby was lactose intolerant. Once the mother stopped having all types of dairy and the appropriate baby milk was prescribed, she got much better. She is now 18 months old and still has to avoid all products that contain dairy.
There is no cure (as far as I know) to treat lactose intolerance. The only solution to avoid getting ill from lactose if your body has an intolerance to it, is to avoid it. You need to read the ingredients labels as some products (like flavoured crisps) contain whey and whey is dairy.
If you are lactose intolerant, any foods that contain dairy that you eat, will cause symptoms either straight away or shortly afterwards. The people that I know that have lactose intolerance usually come out in a rash which can be quite severe depending on how much of the lactose has been consumed.
If you had the flu, you would have a very high body temperature, but would feel cold with shivers and body aches and would be off your food. You don't always get a runny nose with the flu.
Avoid getting stomach bugs by always washing your hands before you eat. Make sure that your food is prepared correctly and kept in the fridge correctly so that cooked meats and salads are kept away from raw meats. Ensure that meat and fish is cooked thoroughly. If you know of someone that has a stomach bug and are serving at a restaurant - avoid it like the plaque. Always practice good hygiene.
I am trying, i am going to talk to my doc about possibly being lactose intolerant.
It seems every time dairy is involved, i get sick. the last 4-5 times i did, i had something dairy related.
It also ***** because i cant tell the difference between being sick with this or being sick sick like having the flu or a stomach bug.
Great that you are doing fine and are now in control.
Keep a record of the reaction to the Sprite, so that you will remember to avoid it and any other fizzy drinks.
Keep up the good work about looking after yourself.
Best wishes.
update time.
Things are getting better. I do still get sick once in a while, but instead of making me sick the whole next day, i feel better as long as i take something the night i get sick
but funny thing is, yesterday i was feeling fine, and I had a glass of sprite with my medication i normally take, than bam, same ol feeling.
I then read that the fizz in pop can cause acid reflux to really act up. Still learning and getting better.
ya pretty much both are. Honestly what i think is happening is my ibs is acting up blocking me, and the acid/bile has no where to go thus irretationg my stomach. would explain why the lactulose works
As you both have similar symptoms, the chances are that is it something that you both ate that made you feel unwell.
Hope you both feel better soon.
