Milk can cause more mucus to form when you are ill, normally it would be OK to drink.
As the warm drinks helped for the headache, sounds like you were dehydrated.
Glad to hear you are better.
Make sure you drink throughout the day at all times, when you are hot and sweating you will be losing fluids that way so you will need to drink more.
I can't thank you enough!! . yesterday all I kept doing is drinking milk or eating yogurt, but it seems that I shouldn't..so i stopped!! also warm drinks did the trick especially for the headache :3! ..never felt better!!!!!
So, thanks a lot :D
Thank you :D , Oh! I did skip the class..I couldn't get myself to go at all..resting helped reducing the fever which is exactly what i needed ^-^
Thanks so much, I tried lemon with honey and I feel a lot better especially when breathing! :D
Hi Violet. Your English is perfect- no worries!. It sounds like you have the flu- the real flu, not what everyone just CALLS the flu. Have they specifically tested you for it? It does require treatment beyond Panadol (which is what we call Tylenol, I think), and sometimes even hospitalization. Ask them to check you for Influenza A and B. Hope you feel better soon. And if you have a fever you shouldn't be in class, sorry :(
I use to have same feeling like you before.
I try to take shower with ice but quick shower, after that try to ware only t-shirt, don't cover yourself with a blanket.. If you have vinegar or much better coconut vinegar use about half glass of vinegar with 2 glass of water mix it in a bowl then a towel rub it all over your body. That will help your fever go down... And drink flutab tablet these tablet is for fever and flu in the same time..
And for you cough for herbal med I recomen you the lemon with honey warm has to be.. Good luck and good bless
It does sound like a flu bug - you need to rest, take the Panadol and drink plenty of fluids. There is no cure for the flu.
I wouldn't take hot and then cold showers. Cool down to help get the fever down, but not with cold showers. You could end up getting chilled and could end up getting pnemonia in your lungs. I know Panadol is for headaches, but it may also help to reduce the fever (probably why they gave it to you). If you have been examined by the doctor at the hostel, they obviously feel that you have a viral infection. Influenza is caused by viruses, but you could end up getting a secondary infection caused by bacteria in which case a course of antibiotics would have been prescribed.
If you are coughing and have lost your voice. That is laryngitis. The larynx is your voice box. If what you have is a viral infection, antibiotics will not help you.
If on the other hand if it is a bacterial infection you will require a course of antibiotics. If you bring up phlegm that is yellow, green or streaked with blood, you will need to go back to the clinic and tell them as you may need an antibiotic or penicillin.
Coughing is the body's natural response to get rid of irritants. Irritants can be bugs, viruses, dust particles, allergies.
Keep drinking plenty of warm drinks (avoid milky drinks) Warmwater with honey and lemon is good. Make sure you stay hydrated. Get plenty of rest. You could try steam inhalations with olbas oil or Vick and antibacterial throat lozenges to help with the throat irritation.
Do not attempt to speak if you have no voice or hardly any voice, forcing to speak when the larynx is unwell will make your voice worse and you could end up losing your voice altogether. You need to rest the voice box (larynx) until you start to feel much better. This is more important if you like to sing!
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
