Recurring Sinus infections ?

I was treated with antibiotics (Augmentin) appx. 4-5 weeks ago for a very bad sinus infection.  I felt better and then appx 2 weeks ago I developed more symptoms, dental (teeth) pain, headaches, extreme tiredness, ear congestion, and finally went back to the doctor.  He said that my throat glands were swollen and gave me a different anibiotic.  I have been on the antibiotics for 4plus full days.  The dental pain has diminished but I still have headaches and my glands still feel swollen but worst of all I still have no energy !  I have three children so that can be difficult !  I'm not sure if it can be related to allergies or if I should go back to the doctor again?

this sound more like a mononucleosis or ebstein-barr infection...seing as the dental pain is gone this was probably just a sign of inflamation...when you get mono or EBV( if this is in fact what it is) your CRP(c-reactive proteins) go up...this is how body inflamation is measured...and if you have bad inflamation it hurts more where there are a lot of nerve endings(teeth, gums etc)  in turn i would agree with caregiver222 and start the grapefruit, but i would also start on cranberry juice(ocean spray tastes best) for an anti-oxidant...and it will help "flush" you out... however there are three or four possibilities...bacterial sinus infection, bacterial glandular infection, mononucleosis or ebstein barr(which 2/3 of american populatiopn actually have in there bloodstreams)...however the only way to know would be to get a CBC i would get a second opinion and that blood test...sometimes a little poking and prodding is all it takes.

Let's give your doctor a break. It doesn't seem that he has done anything terribly wrong.

And there is something called cognitive disonance - the theory the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. It "ain't necessarily so".

You have, as I see it two (count em') problems.

(1) A residual sinus infection
(2) A residual dental infection

Sinus infections are notoriously hard to clear up once established. Often you must end up with an ENT specialist and an extraordinarily long treatment with antibiotics and perhapd a procedure. Daily multiple irrigation with saline deeply in both nostrils are a must.

The dental infections need to be dealt with.  Unfortunately, all of the dentists have developed union territory, like the teamsters, and you may require a special oral surgeon to clean everything out.  I suspect ultimately you will have dentists who will only work on specific teeth. There will be a "molar" subspeciality, and a "wisdom tooth subspecialty". With full boards to certify them, of course. Make this a priority. Deep dental infections ocasionally migrate to the bloodstream and settle on the heart valve, a condition you most certainly don't want to develop.

Four days is not a long time to be on an antibiotic. Take grapefruit juice with the antibiotic. It will improve the efficiency. And take a vitamin D3 supplement as well as a good multivitamin. A vitamin C supplement would probably help as well.

Your symptoms could be alergies, but they appear to be related to a plain old nasty bacterial infection.

Drink lots of fluids (electrolytes) and try to go out with youe kids and get as much sunlight as you can every day.

I hope you are feeling better.
