Severe Left Flank Pain

For a couple of years now I have had severe left flank pain. General practice dr sent me to urologist (because of my history with kidney stones) who did and IVP and said everything was fine and sent me to a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy and colonooscopy.  He said eveything was fine and sent me to my obgyn who said everything was fine.  Everyone just keeps giving me hyrocodone but no answers.  If I were a junkie I'm sure I'd be enjoying it.  The hydrocodone does help the pain but makes me extremely sleepy.  I just want it to go away.  Pain is in left side between bottom of rib cage and top of hip bone.  I can feel it in my back and a stabbing pain from the front, however, it feels deeper in my body, toward my back but I feel like I just point to it better from the front.  It can be dibilitating.  Any suggestions on where to go from here.  I am an active mother and need to be able to go and do with my kids without being in pain.

I know this may seem odd but have you considered a low back problem or a hip problem?  Low back and hip ailments can refer pain to those areas you speak of.  You could also have an arch problem in one or both of your feet which could throw your body off kilter and cause pain.  Especially if you have been off balance for years.  Ask you Dr. what he thinks and see if he'll take some x-rays of your back and hip, or a CT scan if the x-rays are normal.

No other symptoms besides pain?  Does the pain come after meals?  Is it relieved by BMs?  Do you get relief from pressing your back against a wall?  I'm thinking gallbladder.  If an ultasound doesn't reveal stones, they could do a HIDA scan.
