Something in the water...?

In my continuing quest to find out why I've been sick with "brain fog," fatigue, tremors/shakes and cranial tension for the past four months, I have explored everything from Lyme disease to aneurysm to thryoid dysfunction to an anxiety disorder, but so far none of them has yeilded any reliable results.

Recently, I discovered a black, sooty discharge in my tap water, what looks on close inspection almost like little black snowflakes. I never realized this was there, probably because I rarely drink my tap water (although I brush my teeth with it every day), but my roommates assure me that it's been there all along and that the water from the sink in my room seems particularly rife with little black specks.

Could this be the cause of my ailment, or am I just grasping at straws now? And who would I call to have the specks inspected to see if there's any toxins, bacteria, or whatever associated with them?

Thanks in advance!

Hi rburillo,
Sorry you are having these problems. I don't think that the black flakes or substance coming out of your water is the problem most likely. If you have a fever associated with it then maybe it is the black slime. But I wouldn't drink it anyway. It probably is algae (we get alot where we live from the reservoir which is where our drinking water comes from) or it could be mold but a slime mold. I would get a water purifier or even use Britta water or bottled water for brushing your teeth. Maybe change out the faucet and see if it comes back too. I would see a doctor  to make sure there isn't a infection, neurological or other problem.

It sounds like you need to have your water tested. Do you live in an old building? It could be rust. Until you can have it checked I would recommend only using distilled water for all of your drinking, and even brushing your teeth. You can always get a filter for your faucet and also for your shower head.
Do you have anxiety? Anxiety and depression can cause the brain fog feeling.
